 - ½ cup unsalted butter, softened (for filling)
 - 3 cups powdered sugar
 - ¼ cup reduced apple cider (for filling)
 - 1 tsp vanilla extract (for filling)
 - Pinch of salt (for filling)
 - ½ cup store-bought caramel sauce
 - Pinch of flaky sea salt (optional)
 
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
 - In a bowl, whisk flour, baking soda, salt, and spices together.
 - In another bowl, cream softened butter and brown sugar until fluffy; add egg and vanilla.
 - Mix dry ingredients alternately with reduced apple cider and whole milk until just combined.
 - Drop tablespoons of dough onto prepared sheets and bake for about 10 minutes until edges are golden.
 - For the filling, beat softened butter until smooth, then gradually add powdered sugar and reduced apple cider until creamy.
 - Assemble whoopie pies by spreading caramel filling between two cookies.
