- 1 ½ cups granulated sugar
- ½ cup water
- ¼ teaspoon kosher salt
- ¾ cups heavy cream
- 1 tablespoon cold unsalted butter
- 6 medium apples (washed, sliced)
- Optional: 6 oz. dark chocolate chips
- Optional: 1 tablespoon oil for chocolate coating
Instructions
- Wash and slice apples into wedges. Prepare any additional toppings.
- In a heavy-bottomed saucepan, combine sugar, water, and salt over medium heat until sugar dissolves.
- Boil without stirring until the mixture turns golden amber (about 5-7 minutes). Carefully add heavy cream while stirring constantly; remove from heat and stir in butter.
- Dip each apple slice in warm caramel and place on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Sprinkle with chopped nuts if desired.
- For optional chocolate drizzle: Melt chocolate with oil in short bursts in the microwave, then drizzle over cooled apple slices.
