  • 4 slices of whole-grain bread
  • 1 ripe avocado
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 4 slices of cheddar cheese
  • 2 tablespoons butter, softened
  • 1 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 1 small tomato, thinly sliced
  • 1/4 cup fresh basil leaves

Instructions

  1. Cut the ripe avocado in half, remove the pit, and scoop it into a bowl.
  2. Add lemon juice and mash until smooth; season with salt and pepper.
  3. Spread half of the mashed avocado on two slices of bread, then layer with cheddar cheese.
  4. Top with sliced tomatoes and basil leaves; sprinkle red pepper flakes if desired.
  5. Place remaining slices of bread on top to form sandwiches.
