 - 1 ½ cups granulated sugar

 - 2 egg yolks
 - 2 teaspoons vanilla extract (alcohol-free)
 - 2 teaspoons ground nutmeg
 - 1 teaspoon baking soda
 - 1 teaspoon cream of tartar
 - ¼ teaspoon salt
 - 1/3 cup granulated sugar (for coating)
 - ½ teaspoon ground nutmeg (for coating)
 
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350F (180C) and line cookie sheets with parchment paper.
 - In a bowl, whisk together flour, cream of tartar, nutmeg, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
 - In another bowl, beat softened butter and granulated sugar until creamy. Add egg, egg yolks, and vanilla; mix until combined.
 - Gradually add dry ingredients to wet ingredients until just combined.
 - In a small bowl, combine sugar and nutmeg for coating.
 - Scoop about 1.5 tablespoons of dough per cookie, roll into balls, and coat in the sugar-nutmeg mixture.
 - Place cookie balls on lined sheets about two inches apart and bake for 9-12 minutes until set but still soft.
 - Allow cookies to cool on sheets for 10 minutes before transferring to wire racks.
