  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon fresh thyme (or ½ teaspoon dried)
  • 1 package of puff pastry (2 sheets)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Optional: ½ cup grated Gruyère cheese
  • Optional: 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard

Instructions

  1. Caramelize the onions: Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add thinly sliced onions and a pinch of salt. Cook for 15-20 minutes until golden brown. Set aside to cool.
  2. Prepare the filling: In a mixing bowl, combine ground sausage with caramelized onions, thyme, salt, and pepper. Optionally mix in cheese and mustard.
  3. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
